Project Overview

We currently deliver a four-year Operational Maintenance Agreement (OMA) across four Bournemouth Water sites, providing planned inspections, maintenance and 24/7 emergency call-out support for high-voltage assets.

The sites are located close together, allowing inspections to be completed efficiently, typically over two days by one HV craftsperson.

Supporting Four Bournemouth Water Sites

We provide high-voltage maintenance and emergency support services for Bournemouth Water under a four-year Operational Maintenance Agreement (OMA) covering Alderney Water Treatment Works, Knapp Mill Water Treatment Works, Longham Water Treatment Works and Woodgreen Water Treatment Works.

Our services include planned inspections, maintenance activities and 24/7 emergency call-out support for the high-voltage electrical infrastructure across all four sites. The close proximity of the sites allows inspections to be carried out efficiently, with routine inspection programmes typically completed over two days.

Alongside our maintenance responsibilities, Bournemouth Water also benefits from our 24/7 Call-Out and General Duties Cover, providing access to specialist HV engineers whenever support is required.

Working Around Operational Requirements

As the sites form part of Bournemouth Water's operational infrastructure, arranging outages for planned maintenance can be challenging. Two-yearly and four-yearly maintenance activities often require planned shutdowns, which can be delayed due to operational requirements.

To accommodate these constraints, we work closely with Bournemouth Water to programme maintenance activities around site operations, providing a flexible and practical approach to service delivery.

Throughout the contract, we maintain detailed records of inspections, maintenance works and reactive call-outs, helping to support effective contract management and visibility of asset condition.

Responding When It Matters

A key part of our role is providing rapid support when faults occur. A recent example involved a high-voltage circuit breaker trip at one of the sites. Our engineers attended within four hours, carried out fault-finding activities and completed the necessary repairs, remaining on site beyond normal working hours to safely restore the system.

Delivering Additional Projects

Alongside routine maintenance activities, we have successfully delivered a range of improvement works across the contract.

Since taking over project management of the account, these works have included protection relay replacements, battery charger replacements, battery replacement projects, HV switching duties and standby support services. We have also developed and priced several asset replacement schemes to support Bournemouth Water's future investment plans to improve water infrastructure in the region.

A Long-Term Partnership

Over the course of the agreement, we have developed a strong working relationship with Bournemouth Water, supporting both routine maintenance requirements and critical reactive works across its four sites.

By combining planned maintenance, emergency response and specialist HV engineering expertise, we continue to provide a responsive and flexible service that supports Bournemouth Water's operational requirements today while helping prepare for future investment and asset upgrades.
